Illystra

The name Illystra is known only to a very few of those who travel between worlds...

Each world exists in its own self contained realm. Each realm floats on its own tier, sovereign and unseen by others. Illystra has an infinite collection of realms that compose and make her up. While many of these places have many items in common, the only true commonality among them are the Primordial Deities.

Laws of Physics, Laws of Magic, Systems of Faith, and other aspects are unique to each realms. Travel between realms is almost no-exsistent, but some pathways between realms do exist. They are extremely hard to find and even harder to open. Only a few know of the existance of these pathways, and how to use them.

5e House/Alternate Rules

Short Rests

  • Short Rests only take 15 minutes
  • Short Rests are limited to 1 per 4 hours (can take more, just don't gain any benifits of a short rest)

Skill Checks

  • A roll of 1 means -10 to your skill check
  • A roll of 20 means +10 to your skill check

Hero Points

  • Add the magic item Aura or the Hero (Hero Points) to your character sheet.
  • Gain 1 Hero Point (HP) per Heroic Action made (decided by the DM), up to Character Level (max 5)
  • Only one HP option may be applied to any roll/action
  • 1 HP Add 1d6 to an attck roll, an ability check, or a saving throw (spent after the roll, but before results)
  • 1 HP Turn a failed death saving throw into a success (spent after the roll)
  • 1 HP Gain Advantage on an Ability Roll, Attack Roll, or Save Roll (spent before the roll)
  • 1 HP Re-roll the damage of an attack, spell, or ability caused by you
  • 2 HP Automatically stabilize or prevent Instant Death
  • 2 HP Add Proficiency bonus to a roll it wouldn't normally apply to (as long as the roll does not require being proficient to attemp)
  • 2 HP Gain 1 free use of an ability that requires a short rest to regain
  • 3 HP Regain the uses of abilities as though you had taken a short rest. (don't gain any other benefits of a short rest)
  • 3 HP Get 1 free use of an ability that requires a long rest to regain
  • 5 HP Take an additional turn
  • 5 HP Regain the uses of abilities as though you had taken a long rest. (don't gain any other benefits of a long rest)

    Climb onto a Bigger Creature

    • This Action Option in the DMG is used.

    Disarm

    • This Action Option in the DMG is used.

    Mark

    • This Action Option in the DMG is used.

    Overrun

    • When a creature tries to move through a hostile creature's space, the mover can try to force its way through by overrunning the hostile creature. As an action or a bonus action, the mover makes a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the hostile creature's Strength (Athletics) check. The creature attempting the overrun has advantage on this check if it is larger than the hostile creature, or disadvantage if it is smaller. If the mover wins the contest, it can move through the hostile creature's space once this turn. If the Overrunner rolls less then the hostile creature's Strength (Athletics) check, then the hostile creature gets make an attack of opportunity against the Overrunner.

    Shove Aside

    • This Action Option in the DMG is used.

    Tumbling

    • A creature can try to tumble through a hostile creature's space, ducking and weaving past the opponent. As an action or a bonus action, the tumbler makes a Dexterity (Acrobatics) check contested by the hostile creature's Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. If the tumbler wins the contest, it can move through the hostile creature's space once this turn. If the Tumbler rolls less then the hostile creature's Dexterity (Acrobatics) check, then the hostile creature gets make an attack of opportunity against the Tumbler.

Every 20 to 23 years the tear phase of Lunater turns blue and this lasts for a week, children of any race are not considered adults until they acknowledge themselves and receive her blessing. Long lived races usually only seek acknowledgement after several such occasions.

  • Either way they follow the rise and setting of the Sun each day as it travels across the skies of Illystra.

Every 10 years like clockwork Ignater shoots arcs of fire across the sky, burning those caught in the open beneath its fury. This goes on daily for a week. Fortunately, it is tracked and monitored, and few are foolish enough to be out during this time. Some, however, believe if it can be survived, great blessings will befall them.

Storms by their very nature are chaotic and unpredictable, as are the ways of Tempest. People tend to stay inside when Tempest appears to be his most violent. When the lightning turns red it heralds a time of great change, as the cities and civilizations have been turned to dust in this phenomenon. Fortunately, this is mostly a topic of myth and legend as there are no records of it happening in thousands of years.

Solsta is unique among the Primordials as most people see her as 4 aspects, not the 3 the other Primordials are seen as. She is also seen as the most calming. Many people give thanks to her daily as they prepare or eat their meals. Other than the changing of the seasons there is no natural event that people attribute to her.
